We're the expert Crime Lawyers
Criminal Defence
From police station to the Court of Appeal we are motivated by the same goal: to achieve the best possible outcome for our clients.
Our Criminal Defence Services
Our Criminal Defence Solicitors consists of lawyers who are experts in a wide range of legal services, including:
Investigations
Our lawyers have a wealth of experience representing clients in the police station. They are available to represent clients who have been arrested 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Extradition
At GT Stewart Solicitors & Advocates, our specialist Extradition team is recognised for its unwavering dedication to protecting the rights of individuals facing extradition and cross-border criminal proceedings and investigations.
Youth Crime
At GT Stewart, we believe that representing children and young people caught up in the criminal justice system is one of the most important things we do. We understand that it requires particular knowledge and expertise.
Sexual Offences
At GT Stewart we appreciate that clients facing proceedings involving allegations of sexual offences face unique stresses and concerns including the stigma of facing such charges and the potential consequences in the result of a conviction.
Criminal Appeals
We understand that it is very easy for things to go wrong within the criminal justice system. Issues such as failures of disclosure, mistakes being made within the trial, or new evidence becoming available, may lead to an unfair trial and a defendant being convicted when they should have been acquitted, or being given a sentence which is manifestly excessive.
Motoring Offences
We can help dramatically improve your chances of being found not-guilty or avoiding disqualification. Email GT Stewart at roadtraffic@gtstewart.co.uk and speak to a member of our specialist motoring law team or use our online enquiry form.
Prison Law
If you would like help in relation to any of the above matters, please contact our Prison Law Solicitors on 020 8299 6000.
Recall to Custody
There are three types of recall. The length of time the prisoner must spent in prison depends on the type of recall to which they are subject.
Applications for Parole
You may be released or transferred to an open prison (‘open conditions’). However, the rules are different in Scotland, Northern Ireland or if you are a young offender.
Independent Adjudications
A prisoner may receive adjudication if it is said that they have committed an offence contained within the Prison Rules such as disobeying lawful orders, failing a mandatory drug test or having an unauthorised item, such as a mobile phone.

In those rare circumstances where we do not have sufficient in-house expertise, we work with the leading barristers in their field to get the right result.
We take particular pride in our high quality advocacy. All of our Criminal Defence Solicitors attend Court on a regular basis, representing clients in the magistrates’ court from the first hearing to the trial with an exceptional record for obtaining successful outcomes. Our Higher Courts Advocates department consists of a number of highly skilled and experienced Crown Court advocates – both solicitor-advocates and barristers – who deal with the full range of cases that come before the Crown Court. They also regularly appear at the Court of Appeal and High Court, allowing us to deal with cases in-house at every level.
We have a specialist Youth Crime team, as we believe only specially-trained crime lawyers should deal with children and young adults given the legal and emotional complexity of the work. We represented a client in a successful appeal against sentence, following a referral by the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC). The Court of Appeal reduced our client’s sentence by 148 days, correcting a long-standing legal oversight. The CCRC referred the case, following our submissions that the lower Court erred in failing to deduct time in prison abroad pending extradition.

Client Testimonials
"I was charged with conspiracy to arm robbery and remanded in to court Hassan dealt with my case managed to get me bail and put through a lesser plea of assisting an offender with basis of plea and today I was giving a suspended sentences. And my co defendant got 5 years in prison. Make sure you reach out to them best in the game."
"Hassan was able to quickly and efficiently support us and advocate for us when my son got in a spot of bother, and helped us to navigate the system"
"Hasan represented me in relation to a dangerous driving case involving extremely serious allegations. The incident involved driving at dangerous speeds with my vehicle door open, colliding with police and other vehicles, and a prolonged police pursuit, all while I was already on police bail for unrelated matters. From the outset, Hasan gave me clear, honest advice that it was in my best interests to plead guilty in order to receive maximum credit. He worked tirelessly on my case, obtaining a psychological report that provided compelling mitigation and taking detailed character references from my family and friends to present the strongest possible case on my behalf. At court, Hasan’s advocacy was exceptional. Thanks to the mitigation he prepared and the way he presented my case, I received a suspended sentence instead of immediate custody. The judge expressly stated that I would have been sent to prison had it not been for the mitigation put forward. I genuinely believe I owe my liberty to Hasan. I cannot thank him enough for his professionalism, dedication, and outstanding representation. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of an exceptional defence solicitor."
"Harry represented me throughout a lengthy and complex criminal case spanning approximately three years. The matter ultimately concluded with a Not Guilty verdict, and I appreciated the effort and commitment he showed in preparing the case over that period."
"Harry Charalambous and his dedicated team, Louise and Harry Pell, provided exceptional representation throughout my case, in which I faced a multitude of serious allegations. From the outset, they meticulously explained my options and guided me through every stage of the process. Their expertise and strategic approach ultimately led to my case being dropped before it even reached trial. During such a challenging and uncertain period, it would have been easy to lose hope. However, their unwavering commitment, support, and determination to prove my innocence gave me the confidence to keep fighting and persevere through one of the most difficult times in my life. What truly sets this team apart is their prompt communication, extensive knowledge, and carefully considered legal strategy, all of which contributed to achieving the best possible outcome. Harry Charalambous is a leading figure in criminal law, and I have no hesitation in recommending his services to anyone in need of expert legal representation. I am sincerely grateful for the hard work, dedication, and professionalism shown throughout my case. Thank you to the entire team for always being available to address my concerns and answer any questions I had along the way."
