Head of Private Family and Domestic Abuse
GT Stewart Solicitors & Advocates is seeking an ambitious and entrepreneurial Head of Private Family and Domestic Abuse to unify existing teams and drive strategic growth of this department from London.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to build a practice with the support, reputation and infrastructure of an established Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners recognised firm.
We are looking for someone who wants more than simply managing an existing caseload. We are seeking a leader who is excited by the opportunity to develop a new service, build a new client base, recruit and mentor a team, and shape the future direction of our Private Family offering.
About The Role
As Head of Private Family & Domestic Abuse, you will have responsibility for unifying and growing the department. Initially, you will mange your own caseload while developing the practice through business development, networking and building professional relationships. As the department grows, you will recruit, supervise and lead your own team.
You will work closely with the firm's partners and Senior Management, who are committed to investing in the continued expansion of our Family Department.
Your Experience
You will have significant experience in private family law, including:
Private Law Children's matters
Domestic Abuse, including Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders
Divorce and Financial remedy proceedings
Cohabitation and unmarried couples disputes
General Family Law matters
Experience of Legal Aid private family work would be advantageous, together with an understanding of Legal Aid Agency requirments.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Is a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with at least 3 years' PQE
Has extensive experience managing private family and domestic abuse matters
Has the ambition and commercial awareness to build and grow a successful department
Has previous supervisory or management experience or is ready to step into a leadership role
Is confident in undertaking their own advocacy where appropriate
Has excellent client care and relationship management skills
Enjoys networking and developing new business opportunities
Has a following or established referrer network (desirable but not essential)
