GT Stewart is a busy, growing law firm committed to access to justice. Our lawyers work across criminal defence, family, housing, civil liberties, human rights and other areas of law, supporting clients across the country.
We are looking for an Administration Assistant to join our Birmingham office. This is a varied role within our wider administrative and client support teams, combining day-to-day office administration, telephone support and work assisting our Section 28 team.
The successful candidate will be an organised and approachable person who enjoys working as part of a busy team and is confident communicating with clients, colleagues and external contacts.
About the Role
The role will include:
Answering inbound calls from prospective and existing clients and ensuring calls are dealt with promptly and professionally
Screening calls, taking accurate messages and directing enquiries to the appropriate team or department
Providing administrative support to the Section 82 team, helping with the day-to-day organisation and progression of work
Accurate data entry and maintaining electronic records
Liaising with colleagues across different departments and offices
Assisting with correspondence, documents, filing and other general administrative tasks
Supporting the wider administration and client support teams as required
Reporting technical or system issues to the IT team
Helping to ensure that clients receive a professional and helpful service
Taking on other administrative duties as required to support the smooth running of the office
This is an office-based role in Birmingham, and the successful candidate will work closely with colleagues both locally and across our wider firm.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
Previous experience in an administration or office-based support role
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A polite, professional and confident telephone manner
Strong typing and data-entry skills, with good attention to detail
Good organisational and time-mamangement skills
the ability to learn quickly and take on new systems and processess
Confidence using Microsoft Office
The ability to work independently while also contributing positvely to a wider team
A calm and professional approach when working under pressure
Experience in a legal environment or a supervisory role would be desirable, but is not essential. We are partocularly interetsed in candidates who are keen to develop their administrative skills and learn more about working within a legal environment.
