Our client was a single mother who had been housed outside of her home borough in temporary accommodation after she became homeless with her 2 children. The distance of the accommodation meant our client was travelling far to work, at times twice a day due to the times of her shifts and her child care responsibilities for her young daughter. Her son also had a long journey to college where he was studying for GCSEs.
The local authority were originally refusing to even conduct a review as they believed it was out of time of the statutory review period. With our assistance the local authority agreed to conduct a review and they eventually found that the accommodation was unsuitable. Our client and her family are now waiting to be rehoused in suitable temporary accommodation.
