GTS Client has been found not guilty at Inner London CC, Sitting at the Royal Courts of Justice
Overview
Our client was charged with four counts, three in relation to possession with intent to supply of Class A and Class B drugs. Count four in relation to possession of a bladed article.
He denied the charges. This was a trial involving two defendants and both were jointly charged with the same offences. After a stop and search by the police, a bladed article was found in-between the paneling in the passenger side of a vehicle, together with a bag containing drugs. Both defendants denied knowledge of the items. Our client was the passenger of the vehicle.
Our Involvement
During the trail which lasted for four days, we meticulously cross-examined witnesses to undermine the Crown's case and drew the Jury's attention to the lack of evidence against our client, including the absence of any forensic evidence. We also successfully opposed a bad character application submitted by the Crown as they sought to rely on our client's previous convictions to bolster their case. Half time submissions were also advanced although the Court found there was a case to answer.
Conclusion
The Jury retired for just under four hours. Our client was subsequently acquitted on all counts.
Our client was represented by Abbie Shepherd during his trail. Ana Derham was the caseworker in this case.
