Kieran Ung  is a Pupil Barrister at GT Stewart. Prior to joining the firm, Kieran worked as a County Court Advocate, appearing in over 80 hearings across the Southeastern Circuit. Kieran regularly represented clients at court hearings and undertook drafting work in a wide range of matters, including property and contractual disputes. 

Having grown up predominantly in Malaysia, Kieran has a strong appreciation of cultural differences and sensitivities. This insight enables him to approach family matters with understanding, empathy and cultural awareness where required

Notable Experience & Interests Outside of Law

Kieran is multilingual and is fluent in English, Mandarin, Malay and Taiwanese Hokkien, both spoken and written. Kieran has also gained work experience with a specialist criminal law firm in Malaysia. This provided valuable insight into cross-border legal issues and international jurisdictions, including the opportunity to observe several high-profile proceedings, among them the Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak v Public Prosecutor & Other Appeals (SRC case). 

Kieran has undertaken mini-pupillages with both family and civil chambers, participated in mooting competitions, and marshalled in the Family Division of the Royal Courts of Justice. 

Outside of law, Kieran is a keen football supporter and player. He enjoys travelling, which complements his interest in different cultures and cuisines, and values spending time with friends and family. He also volunteers at his local church, where he occasionally assists in organising activities and events for young people.
