Having qualified in the City at a leading magic circle firm before moving to a top ranking US firm, Kate’s legal career started in the corporate and banking worlds. Kate specialised in international project finance where she advised on both financial and commercial issues, carefully navigating the competing demands of multiple parties. Kate is now a successful criminal defence solicitor putting her prestigious legal upbringing to great effect in meticulously fighting to obtain the best results for every one of her clients. Kate’s criminal practice encompasses a broad spectrum and she has successfully acted for clients in relation to a multitude of different alleged offences. Kate’s knowledge and experience of mental health law often comes into play in her criminal work. Kate also has a particular interest in extradition law and regularly represents Requested Persons in extradition proceedings. Kate is also a very keen and competent advocate in court, where she regularly appears for her clients.

Notable Cases
Kate has recently worked closely with a female client charged and remanded in custody for a section 18 GBH offence. Kate assisted counsel in obtaining the prosecution’s agreement to a reduced section 20 charge on particular facts proposed in a basis of plea.
Kate has also recently successfully represented clients on various assaults, burglaries, weapons offences, drugs offences, thefts and criminal damage offences. Kate regularly appears in court at bail applications for her clients as well as sentencings, where she is an accomplished mitigator.
Kate has been heavily involved in preparing a number of extradition cases for clients starting at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. These usually involve obtaining expert evidence, taking various statements, working closely with clients (often in custody) and family and, on occasion, preparing High Court Appeal documentation.
Notable Experience or Interests Outside of Law
Kate’s interest in both law and psychology recently took her back to university where she completed a masters degree in Forensic Psychology. This led her to recently spend eighteen months working at a men’s high secure hospital, where she experienced the worlds of law and psychology colliding.
