James joined GT Stewart in June 2021. He works as a Paralegal in the Housing Department and is working towards qualification as a solicitor.
Prior to joining GT Stewart, James worked in the environmental sector as a project manager. He also volunteered with housing co-operatives and campaigns against the criminalisation of residential trespass. James obtained a BSc Banking and International Finance from City University (2008), GDL from London Southbank University (2017) and Bar Professional Training Course LLM from City University (2019). In his final years at City, he participated in mooting competitions and did moot training / judging.
As a Paralegal, James has worked under the tutelage of Susan Gronbach. He has assisted on the cases involving possession proceedings against unauthorised occupiers, defending possession, disrepair claims, enforcement of court orders, homeless reviews and on Equality Act and public law defences. James frequently attends hearings and trials to assist clients, counsel and the court.
James works with vulnerable clients, many of them lacking litigation capacity, and regularly assists on housing cases involving prison clients.
Interests
James’ interests include reading (classic literature and history), listening to live music, skateboarding and going on long walks around London.
