Lorry driver acquitted after trial of being concerned in importing £3 million of cocaine

GTS’s client was acquitted this week after a 3 week trial at Maidstone Crown Court. His co-defendant was convicted. GTS’s client explained to the jury that he had no idea how the packages of cocaine had been hidden in the exhaust stacks behind his cab whilst he was asleep outside Amsterdam. GTS were able to show that the prosecution had failed to secure evidence that may have potentially exonerated their client and the prosecution case left serious doubts about their client’s state of knowledge of the drugs or the wider smuggling operation.

The defence case was prepared by Greg Stewart assisted by Kevin Williams at our City Office. Ronnie Manek obtained bail for the client at the first hearing and he was represented at his trial by Lee Sergent at Garden Court Chambers.
