GT Stewart successfully resist terrorist extradition application

Our client was arrested for terrorism offences on an Interpol Red Notice. He was suspected of being a member of Al-Qaeda and was wanted for a prosecution in the Netherlands for crimes committed in Syria. We successfully argued that this was a case of mistaken identity, and that the man in the dock was not the man identified in the Red Notice: it was a case of mistaken identity. The extradition judge discharged our client and ordered his release from custody. Our client was represented by Dominic Teagle, a solicitor in our Extradition Team at our City office.
