Crown forced to offer no evidence for serious assault case – Leeds Crown Court web

GT Stewart represented W who was sentenced to a period of imprisonment for 36 weeks for an offence of burglary and theft from a dwelling.  He was released on license after serving half of his sentence in custody, however, he was recalled back to prison after it was alleged that he committed an assault whilst on licence.

Hasan Khan, Trainee Solicitor, took detailed instructions from W in order to prepare written representations to be sent to the Parole Board which argued in favour of W’s release from prison.  The initial view of the parole board was that W posed a substantial risk to the public if released on licence as he had a history of committing breach offences.

After considering our detailed representations, the Parole Board issued a direction for W to be released on the papers.

Our client was represented by Hasan Khan (Trainee Solicitor) under the supervision of Lisa Lovell from our Leeds office.
