We represented a client who had been charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs. This was our client’s fifth offence for suppling class A drugs meaning that the minimum sentence of 7 years immediate imprisonment applied. The Crown argued that our client played a leading role which meant that the starting point in terms of sentence was one of 13 - 14 years custody. After considering the submissions put forward on our client’s behalf, the judge departed from the mandatory minimum sentence and imposed a custodial sentence of 5 ½ years.
Our client was represented by Sabrina Neves and Nusrat Chowdhury of our Croydon Office and in Court by our in house barrister, Edward Fenner.
