We represented a client with no previous convictions who was charged with assisting an offender in an attempted murder case. The charge stemmed from an incident in which our client was contacted by her brother, who asked her to pick him up in her car and drive him to an address in the Bradford area, helping him escape Leeds after the incident. It was also alleged that she assisted a second defendant by taking him away from the scene. Our client denied any knowledge that either defendant had a gun or had been involved in an attempted murder.
After a 14-day trial at Leeds Crown Court, our client was found not guilty of assisting an offender. Her three co-defendants will be sentenced in January 2025 for a range of offences including attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, GBH and assisting an offender. Throughout the proceedings, our client was represented by Philip Mahoney, Solicitor-Advocate, and Michelle Stewart, Litigator.
