We represented a client who had been charged with two offences of possession of a bladed article and threatening another with a bladed article. It was the Crown’s case that our client had threatened another with a bladed article following an argument over property. Following a search of our client’s vehicle, two bladed articles were recovered by the police. The Crown alleged that the incident had been recorded on CCTV and mobile phone footage. Our client denied the offences and the matter was sent to the Crown Court for trial. The Crown Prosecution Service made an application to remand our client in to custody in light of the nature of the alleged offence, however, the Court was persuaded to grant our client bail. The day before our client’s Plea and Trial Preparation Hearing was due to take place, the Crown Prosecution Service discontinued all charges against our client on the basis that there was insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction.

Our client was represented by Sabrina Neves, a solicitor in our Croydon Crime Team and Luna Spada, one of our in house barristers.
