Salary: £60,000 – £75,000 (depending on skills and experience)

We are currently expanding our private client and property departments and are looking for an experienced solicitor to lead and develop our Residential & Commercial Property team.

The Role:
This is a full-time opportunity to lead our Residential & Commercial Property team in St Albans and contribute to the growth and development of the property department across all GT Stewart offices. The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising, promoting, and expanding the team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the Residential & Commercial Property team in St Albans and support colleagues across other GT Stewart offices.
  • Handle a caseload of residential and commercial property matters, including sales, purchases, remortgaging, and land transactions.
  • Supervise and support junior solicitors and assistants within the department.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with clients, agents, and colleagues.
  • Work closely with the management team on department needs, including staffing, training, IT, finances, and business development.
  • Ensure compliance with CQS, Lexcel, lender panel, and Land Registry requirements.
  • Lead and support marketing and business development initiatives to grow the property practice.
  • Deliver high-quality and timely legal services while fostering a motivated and engaged team.

About You:
The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 10 years PQE as a Solicitor (or equivalent qualification and experience).
  • Extensive experience in residential and commercial property law.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to oversee work across multiple offices.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to business development and team management.
  • Knowledge and experience of CQS, Lexcel, lender panel, and Land Registry compliance.
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding legal services and developing a high-performing team.
