This month marks the 50th anniversary of the Amy Louisa Robinson Charity in St Albans.
Amy Louisa Robinson was a lifelong member of Dagnall Street Baptist Church. She was known to the local community as a landlord, leaving several properties in trust to provide homes for older people in need before she passed away in 1973.
The Charity’s founding purpose was to provide affordable or free of rent housing for people aged 65 and over with ties to St Albans. Today, it is a proud member of The Almshouse Association and manages 18 one-bedroom apartments in St Albans, giving new applicants the chance to benefit from the secure, supportive housing Amy envisioned.
The founding trustees included Amy Louisa Robinson’s family and local church members. Today, the work continues under the guidance of the current trustees, assisted by GT Stewart Solicitors, with Chartered Legal Executive, Clare Ranger who acts as Clerk to the Charity.
