Our client was charged with a serious offence that had been hanging over his head for almost 2 years.
At the trial at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court the prosecution applied to adjourn the case again because of evidential difficulties. Ms Rowley successfully argued that there should not be any further adjournment. She argued that any further delay would have a significant negative impact on our client given that the case had already been delayed by more than 2 years. She argued that in the circumstances of the case it was not in the public interest for the case to continue. The Magistrates agreed and refused an adjournment. The prosecution offered no evidence and the case against our client was dismissed.
Our client was finally able to move forward after having this hanging over him for nearly 2 years. Navigating proceedings when facing criminal charges can be distressing and life changing.
