M was charged with a joint enterprise wounding with intent, along with two other defendants. Following a seven-day trial at Doncaster Crown Court, the jury were unable to reach a verdict.
We made representations to the Crown Prosecution Service that it was not in the public interest to seek a re-trial in view of the investigatory issues that came to light during the trial, the significant amount of time that had passed since the alleged incident and the impact a further trial would have upon our client's mental health.
After considering our representations, the Crown Prosecution Service decided to offer no evidence and a Not Guilty verdict was recorded.
M was represented by Ed Youlton of our Leeds office and at trial by Stefan Bisson of Great James Street Chambers.
