Michelle is an experienced Family Law solicitor who has experience in Care Proceedings, Adoption Disruption, Kinship Care, Private Law Family and Domestic Abuse. Michelle accepts instructions in all areas of Family Law but predominantly deals with Public Law Matters.

During her training contract, she regularly appeared before both District Judges and Magistrates, having successfully obtained blanket rights of audience in West and North Yorkshire.

After qualifying as a Solicitor in 2019, she focused primarily on Adoption and Kinship matters while also representing birth parents in Care Proceedings. She possesses invaluable expertise in Kinship Matters and complex Adoption Breakdown cases.

Michelle represents clients that include:

  • Parents facing the terrifying prospect of having their children removed from their care.
  • Those who have been subject to serious Domestic Abuse.
  • Vulnerable adults who themselves are Care Experienced.

Michelle deals with cases that include:

  • Cases where parents are involved with Social Services (Pre-Proceedings Meetings, Child Protection and Child In Need);
  • Applications under the Court’s Inherent Jurisdiction;
  • Private Law Children Work (Contact and Residence disputes, Prohibitive Steps and Specific Issue applications;
  • Injunctions (under the Family Law Act and Harassment Act);
  • Special Guardianship Order Applications;
  • Placement Order and Adoption Order Applications;
  • Care Proceedings
  • Cases where there are concurrent criminal proceedings;

Education and Qualifications:

Michelle initially undertook a Foundation Degree in Law and Legal Practice at Bradford College before completing her LLB (Hons) at Bradford Law School, graduating in 2012. She later studied the Legal Practitioners Course at the University of Manchester in 2015.

Notable Experience or Interests outside of Law:

Outside of work, she is an avid reader who enjoys cooking, musicals, and escape rooms.

Michelle was awarded the Richard Cawthron Prize by Bradford Law Society in 2019, recognising her as a “rising star” in the legal community.
