Kate is a U.S.-qualified Lawyer with a strong background in human rights and public interest law.

She attended law school in the United States during which she was co-captain of the Jessup Public International Law Moot Court Honour Society. She has completed legal internships at the headquarters of the American Red Cross, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Refugee Assistance Project, and the United States Department of Justice’s National Security Division, Office for Victims of Overseas Terrorism, and has served as a legal assistant to the Chairperson of the United Nations Committee Against Torture in Geneva, Switzerland.

Since being called to the District of Columbia Bar in 2020, Kate has worked with leading public interest organisations including Global Human Rights Defence in the Hague, the American Civil Liberties Union in New York, and the Animal Legal Defense Fund in California. She also served as a government Lawyer for the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Since moving to London, Kate has volunteered on Prison Law cases for the Prisoners’ Advice Service in London, and has assisted in drafting applications on behalf of wrongfully convicted persons to the Criminal Case Review Commission. She is also on the Board of Trustees for the Innocence Project London and is a member of Lincoln’s Inn. She is pursuing her qualification at the Bar of England and Wales.

Kate works on the Criminal Defence team’s Youth and Crown Court cases.

Notable Experience or Interests Outside of Law

Before becoming a Lawyer, Kate was a social worker and mental health counsellor, providing trauma-focused services to clients with serious mental-illness and victims of trauma and violence, including domestic abuse, rape, and torture.
