Jessica has over 8 years’ experience dealing with different areas of Family Law. She is keen to continue progressing her knowledge and experience and become accredited on the Law Society Children Panel.
Jessica represents parents and family members through all stages of Private and Public Law Children Act Proceedings from child protection meetings, pre-proceedings meetings, care proceedings, contact with children in care, discharge of care orders, special guardianship orders, and child arrangements orders (residency, contact, prohibited steps and specific issue).
Jessica has experience supporting, advising and representing victims of domestic abuse to secure Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders for their protection. She works closely with local refuges who continue to refer individuals needing help because it is dealt with swiftly and sensitively.
Jessica regularly represents clients who are vulnerable adults such as those with additional learning needs, who have mental health conditions and who are neuro divergent, ensuring that communication is catered to their individual needs. Jessica understands that being in a situation where a lawyer is required can be stressful and worrying, but she always aims to be friendly and approachable to all clients to put them at ease through the process.

Notable Cases
Re A.
– Representation of a client in Northern Ireland whose child was subject to care proceedings in England. The case involved concerns of domestic abuse, substance misuse and serious neglect. After professional assessments and lengthy court proceedings the child was returned to our client’s care, and after cross Jurisdiction issues a Final Order of residency was secured for him recognised under the Northern Ireland Jurisdiction.

– Representation of a client in care proceedings who struggled with substance misuse. The client was referred to the Family Drug and Alcohol Court who worked closely with them to achieve abstinence and the child was later returned to their care.
Re C.
– Support provided to Todd Killeen of GT Stewart Solicitors in a complex case representing a parent in a multiple day final hearing involving a number of children, which included a Fact Finding Hearing (FFH) working with leading Counsel, Jeremy Weston KC (St Ives Chambers) and Matthew Maynard (St Ives Chambers), to determine the perpetrator of the death of a child. Jessica assisted with the attendance at client appointments and Court Hearings for the purpose of supporting the client, drafting statements and providing advice.

– Support provided to Reetu Dubb of GT Stewart Solicitors in a complex matter involving allegations of non-accidental injuries to a child. Jessica assisted in the attendance at the lengthy FFH to support the client through the Hearing as he had additional learning needs, and assisting Counsel, Julie Slater (St Ives Chambers).

– Representation of Grandparents who had been caring for their Grandchildren for a considerable amount of time with no legal rights in place. Jessica advised, assisted and supported them to apply for and secure a Special Guardianship Order which secured the Children’s long-term placement with their Grandparents.

– Representation of a young client with complex mental health and learning needs who was neuro divergent in care proceedings. The case involved a vast range of concerns including mental health, criminal history, adverse childhood trauma, substance misuse, domestic abuse and associating with risky persons. Jessica researched and sourced Counsel, Annabel Goodman (Halcyon Chambers) who was extremely experienced with Autism to ensure that her client had the best possible representation. Jessica drafted a compelling statement which allowed the child to remain in her client’s care upon discharge from Hospital.
