Profile

Fidel joined GT Stewart in November 2025 as a Paralegal in the South East London Crime department. He brings extensive experience in criminal defence, having worked across a variety of complex and sensitive matters. He was selected from over 2,000 candidates to join the University of Kent’s Law Clinic, where he spent two years contributing to live casework across housing, employment and criminal matters. During this time, he attended proceedings at Canterbury Crown Court, assisted in delivering pro bono advice to vulnerable clients, and built a portfolio demonstrating his commitment to access to justice and client advocacy.

Fidel later specialised in criminal defence at Banks & Partners Solicitors and subsequently as a consultant at Wainwright & Cummins, working on a varied caseload involving youth defendants, motoring offences, and serious violent crimes, including Section 18/20 GBH and attempted murder. He has conducted in-depth legal research into complex areas of criminal law, including the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA), disqualification periods for causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and offences under the Malicious Communications Act 1988, leading to several acquittals and favourable outcomes for clients.

Having been brought up in Camberwell until his early teens, he is very aware of the issues that often affect young people in South East London and their interactions with the police.
