Profile

Autumn qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2019 and specialises in child protection and public law matters, representing parents and family members. She is working towards acquiring the relevant qualifications to represent children in Court proceedings. She is a Family Lawyer, trained to the same standard as a Family Solicitor. She is also able to advise and assist with other private law matters.

Autumn joined GT Stewart in 2022 and has worked in Family Law since 2015, with a mixture of representing parents and a local authority. She has a wide range of experience and knowledge of a number of care proceedings matters. She has experience of more complex cases including; non-accidental injury, modern slavery, fabricated illness and sexual abuse. She has represented parties in High Court cases and has instructed and worked alongside Kings Counsel such as, Sam Momtaz KC, Penny Howe KC, Tina Cook KC and Gemma Farrington KC in these matters.

Autumn has the experience of working for a local authority and therefore benefits from the knowledge of managing cases from both sides. She is approachable and committed to her cases, and tries to make the Court process as easy as possible for her clients.

Autumn represents clients that include:

Parents and family members who have difficulties with mental health, learning needs, alcohol and drug misuse, low cognitive functioning, individuals who lack capacity to litigate, are neurodivergent, non-English speaking clients and those who are perpetrators and victims of domestic abuse.

“Upon behalf of Gemma and I, could I please thank you for your very hard work in this very complex and difficult matter. It is always a pleasure to be instructed by you.”

“Autumn is lovely. She is liked by her clients, and she is hardworking and competent.”

“Autumn has moved across to GT Stewart. She is taking on a difficult transition with a different approach; she’s been working so that she’s able to make that transition really well. She really does suck up the information from Max and Ryan on how to do things. She is never worried to try things, but always willing to ask for help and advice if she needs to.”

“I would single out Autumn Newton-Baxendine for her robust and tenacious pursuit of her clients’ interests and her refusal to accept decisions of officialdom without them being fully tested.”

“Autumn Newton-Baxendine was just willing to do so much.”
