Abbie Shepherd joined GT Stewart as a Pupil Barrister in the Crown Court Advocacy team, in 2025.
Before joining GT Stewart, Abbie worked as an Account Manager at a medical governance company, where she supported doctors in maintaining their licences to practise. This role involved managing a diverse client portfolio and liaising closely with Responsible Officers and the General Medical Council (GMC).
Alongside her academic studies, she also worked as a Kitchen Designer.
Education and Qualifications
Abbie Shepherd completed the Bar Professional Training Course with an LLM at The University of Law, following her undergraduate studies in Law with International Relations at the University of East London.
Notable Experience or Interests outside of Law
During her studies, Abbie volunteered at the Pro Bono Immigration Clinic, visiting clients in detention and advising them on their prospects for bail applications. She also volunteered at the Legal Advice Centre, where she conducted client conferences and provided written advice across a range of legal issues.
In her second year of university, she completed summer work experience with the Equality and Human Rights Commission, which included attending proceedings at the Court of Appeal. Abbie has also undertaken several common law mini-pupillages and spent time marshalling at East London Family Court, gaining valuable insight into judicial decision-making.
Outside of her legal interests, Abbie enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, reading, and going to the gym. She has recently taken up golf and is enjoying the challenge of learning a new sport.
