Client is rehoused after Council backs down on homelessness appeal web

We acted for our client, who had formerly had problems with heroin addiction, to secure her a new two bed tenancy in a safe area.  She had been cuckooed by a local drug gang, confined to one room of her flat and unable to get away.  She had become addicted to heroin following post-natal depression and was groomed by the gang.  Her landlord did nothing to assist her, getting a closure order to exclude her from her flat and seeking possession for ASB, making over 85 separate allegations against her.  After getting clean, our client became pregnant with twins who were born prematurely.

We avoided the stress of a trial by getting the opponent to mediate, getting rent arrears written off and getting our client accommodated in temporary accommodation at the landlord’s cost, whilst she waited for a direct offer.  When they failed to honour that agreement we successfully obtained an urgent injunction to force them to do so.  Our client then accepted an offer of a two bedroom flat in a safe area, where she can build on her recovery and bring up her twins in peace.
