GT Stewart today succeeded in persuading the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to offer no evidence against their client RS.
RS faced one count of dishonest representation for obtaining benefit. He is alleged to have willingly failed to inform the DWP that he was employed whilst claiming benefits. During the course of the proceedings, which were instigated in October 2019, the state of his health declined significantly. A medical report was obtained from his GP, which was used in support of written representations to the CPS to argue the prosecution was no longer in the public interest.
The CPS accepted the representations and a formal verdict of not guilty was recorded.
RS was represented by Kevin Williams and Caitlin Ward at our City of London office.
