We represented a medical professional of good character who had been charged with assault by beating. It was the Crown’s case that our client had assaulted a patient causing significant injuries. Our client denied the offences and stated that they were acting in self-defence. The incident was captured on CCTV footage. We subsequently served a defence statement and were able to obtain material which supported our client ‘s account. The matter proceeded to trial and, following careful cross examination of the complainant and after considering the submissions made on our client’s behalf, the Court found our client not guilty meaning that they remained a person of good character.
Our client was represented by Sabrina Neves, a solicitor in our Croydon Crime Team, and in Court by Grace Khaile of Mountford Chambers.
