GT Stewart represented B at Westminster Magistrates’ Court who was due to stand trial, charged with the harassment of Anna Soubry MP.
B was initially charged with harassing Anna Soubry MP on two occasions, during which he was part of a group which pursued her along the street shouting terms such as ‘traitor’, ‘disgrace’ and ‘Nazi’. During the second incident, the group were alleged to have chanted the word ‘Nazi’ towards Anna Soubry MP whilst she was conducting a live interview on Sky News.
B strenuously denied using the term ‘Nazi’. Following successful negotiations on behalf of B, he entered a guilty plea to a lesser public order offence with the Crown Prosecution Service accepting he did not use this term.
District Judge Emma Arbuthnot afforded B full credit for his plea and took into account his good character before sentencing him to to 4 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.
