We represented a client who had been charged with two offences of sexual assault. This case involved two vulnerable complainants under the age of 16, pre-recorded evidence and an application to adduce our client’s relevant previous convictions.
Our client denied the offences in their entirety and the matter proceeded to trial. At our client’s first trial, the jury was unable to reach a verdict and was subsequently discharged. Having reviewed the case against our client, the Crown Prosecution Service subsequently offered no evidence on one Count however, confirmed that they would proceed with a re-trial on the second Count. The re-trial proceeded and after deliberating for only 28 minutes, the Jury returned a unanimous not guilty verdict on the final count.
Our client was represented by Sabrina Neves, a solicitor in our Croydon Crime Team, and in Court by Georgia Morgan, one of our in house barristers.
