Reetu joined GT Stewart in March 2024.  She has been a qualified Solicitor since 2014 and has been working in Family Law since 2012 prior to qualifying.

Reetu specialises in child care law and in advising and representing clients whose children are at risk of being, or have already been, taken into care of the Local Authority.

Reetu acts for clients in public law matters relating to pre-proceedings, care proceedings, and discharge of care orders.  Reetu is also often involved with a variety of private family law matters including child arrangements order, non-molestation orders and special guardianship orders.

Reetu represents clients who are vulnerable adults such as those with additional learning needs or mental health conditions and being a family solicitor allows Reetu to represent the vulnerable people within society at a critical time in their lives.

Reetu is friendly and approachable and deals with cases in a sensitive manner as she is aware the Court Proceedings can be stressful and upsetting.

Reetu is fluent in Punjabi.

Reported Cases:

  • Re A – Reetu represented a Father in Care Proceedings, where his children had been removed from their Mother’s care due to concerns of neglect, substance and alcohol misuse and mental health.  Following a number of assessments, and positive engagement Father was successful in having his children placed in his sole care.
  • Re B – Reetu represented Mother in Care Proceedings, where her children had been removed due to father undertaking criminal activities from the family home, unbeknown to Mother, domestic abuse and mental health.  The children were rehabilitated to Mother’s care to a secure property.
  • Re C – Reetu represented a vulnerable Father in a complex matter involving allegations of non-accidental injuries to a child.
  • Re D – Reetu represented a parent within Care Proceedings involving serious allegations of sexual abuse and honour-based violence.
  • Re E – Reetu represented a vulnerable Mother in Care Proceedings who had significant learning difficulties.
