Our Community Care Team have successfully challenged an age assessment of an unaccompanied asylum seeker. The council had wrongly assessed our client as an adult. This would avoid their responsibilities to him for his care, accommodation and education. This victory means that our client is not placed in inappropriate adult accommodation without appropriate support. Tracey Ling at our Leeds office acted for the child.
Councils who are under financial pressure often try to avoid their statutory duties by making cautious assessments and our Community Care team can help when this is not based on sound evidence.
