Excellent result for 3 clients of McGrath part of GT Stewart Ltd at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court who were acquitted at half time on all charges of resisting, obstructing and assaulting the police. Our clients had been handing out food and water to the homeless during lockdown. They were approached by police officers who demanded to know who they were and what they were doing.
Our clients attempted to walk away from the police who then detained and arrested them. Finally, 21 months later, on the 4th day of a 7 day trial the District Judge dismissed all of the charges. All of our clients, and a 4th defendant, were acquitted. Represented by Georgina Ellis of McGrath part of GT Stewart, Jodie Mole of GT Stewart Solicitors & Advocates and John Dove freelance advocate.
