Last week Greg Stewart took part in a Youth Justice discussion on Unreliable Evidence Radio 4 with Clive Anderson.
Greg was asked to contribute to the show as he is the specialist lawyer on youth justice on the Law Society Criminal Law Committee. The programme discussed the developments since the Crime & Disorder Act 1998 that has resulted in a dramatic fall in the number of children and young people coming before the criminal courts and those how do ending up in detention. The co-contributors were: Olivia Pinkney the police national lead for children and young people policy, Shauneen Lambe from Just For Kids and Malcolm Richardson the Chair of the Magistrates’ Association.
‘The show demonstrated a refreshing unity of purpose in tackling these issues by avoiding further criminalisation, where possible’
