Our client was arrested on a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Czech Republic, and taken to Westminster Magistrates’ Court. She was released on bail and fought extradition on the basis that it would disproportionately infringe on her family rights and those of her children. She has six young dependant children living with her in England.
GT Stewart Solicitors instructed an independent expert child psychologist to scrutinise the findings of Social Services and prepare a report on the effect that extradition of their mother was likely to have on the children. In light of the potentially devastating impact that extradition of their mother could have on the children, the District Judge was persuaded to discharge the warrant and refuse extradition.
Emilie Pottle of 36 Group Chambers represented our client at court, instructed by Leigh Webber and Charlotte Higham of the GT Stewart Extradition Department.
