GT Stewart represented MI who was charged with drug driving. His defence was that when he was stopped by the police he had swallowed cannabis in a panic just prior to his arrest. The roadside test was positive for cannabis as confirmed by his blood sample. Our expert confirmed that taking cannabis orally could affect the reading. The prosecution’s expert conceded that it could in certain circumstances. A not guilty verdict for our happy client.
