JJ, represented by our in-house Supervising Barrister Ronnie Manek, led by Oliver Saxby QC (6 Pump Court Chambers) was acquitted of Attempted Murder by Reason of Insanity. Both counsel were greatly assisted by a litigation team comprising of Julie-Ann Boyle, Rochelle Dennie and Rebecca Palmer. JJ was accused of stabbing a customer at the Flying Boat Public House in Dartford in July 2019, four times in the back. The majority of the incident was caught by CCTV. This was a completely unprovoked and motiveless attack on a wholly innocent stranger. JJ, was then undiagnosed with any Mental Health vulnerabilities, but all the Experts and Jury concluded that he was at the material time suffering from extreme paranoid schizophrenia, underpinned by psychosis and delusional beliefs causing him the need to protect himself against suffering serious harm or death. JJ, will now receive a Hospital Order disposal in a secure unit, where his rehabilitation will commence.
