Profile
In her role as a Family Paralegal, Marie-Lucia specialises in both private and public children matters. She supports solicitors at all stages of proceedings, including safeguarding issues, and is experienced in managing cases involving sensitive and complex family dynamics. She is organised and detail-driven, and has a strong understanding of court procedures and deadlines, ensuring matters progress efficiently while maintaining the highest standard of client care.
In her previous role, Marie-Lucia assisted with a range of cases including Section 8 Children Act 1989 applications and Family Law Act 1996 matters. She has experience drafting legal documents, preparing statements and court bundles for hearings, and ensuring clients are fully informed and supported throughout proceedings. Marie-Lucia has also worked directly with clients who are victims of domestic abuse, assisting them in obtaining injunctions, including Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders.
She builds excellent rapport with clients and has a naturally empathetic and professional manner, which is particularly important in Family Law, where clients are often vulnerable or distressed. Marie-Lucia approaches matters calmly, consistently prioritising client needs and working proactively to resolve issues in a practical and compassionate way.
Alongside her day-to-day casework, Marie-Lucia is completing a Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship, allowing her to apply academic learning directly to live cases. This combination of practical experience and structured legal training enables her to deliver thorough, thoughtful, and client-focused support in Family Law matters.
Outside of work, Marie-Lucia enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle and spending time with family and friends. She has a strong interest in travel and enjoys exploring new destinations, experiencing different cultures, and trying new foods. She values new experiences and believes that stepping outside her routine helps her to recharge, broaden her perspective, and return to work feeling refreshed and focused.
Marie-Lucia is also passionate about charity work, particularly supporting the Dogs Trust, a cause close to her heart as her family rescued their dog through the charity. This personal connection has strengthened her commitment to animal welfare, and she enjoys participating in fundraising initiatives whenever possible. Giving back to causes she cares about is both rewarding and motivating for her outside her professional life.
