Profile
Tommy joined GT Stewart as a Paralegal in March 2026. He is a focused legal professional currently undertaking his LLB (Hons) at the Open University. His recent experience includes serving as a Commercial Property Legal Secretary at Girlings Solicitors LLP, where he developed a robust technical foundation. Complementing his legal administrative skills is his unique experience within the healthcare sector as a Mental Health Practitioner for Children and Young People in crisis for the NHS.
Tommy’s primary area of expertise and interest is Child Public Law, with a particular focus on human rights and the protection of disadvantaged children through policy. His dedication to this field is rooted in his own lived experience as a care leaver, fuelling a deep-seated ambition to influence policy for vulnerable children and mental health. His dedication to this field is evidenced by his extensive academic and practical engagement, including:
- Court Marshalling at the Royal Courts of Justice;
- Selection for the EDELNet Summer School in Constitutional Law in The Hague, The Netherlands, focusing on the Public International Law track and human rights.
- Specialised training, including advanced coursework in Youth Justice, Children’s Rights, and Applying Social Work Law with Children and Families; and
- Public Advocacy, serving as a Trainee Advisor at the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Combining his NHS background in adolescent mental health with his legal training, Tommy is committed to providing informed and compassionate representation for families and children within the justice system.
Beyond his professional background, Tommy has a deep-seated passion for wildlife conservation. He previously contributed to vital research projects at a specialised sanctuary dedicated to protecting endangered big cat species. In this role, he was responsible for the meticulous collection of data regarding animal health, behaviour, and environmental conditions. Through this work and associated public outreach, Tommy developed a global perspective on advocacy and the importance of protecting those without a voice.
