On Friday 31st October, Alex Pearson and Indiya Kainth visited Support Through Court, a charity they both previously volunteered with when it was known as the Personal Support Unit. They were welcomed by Service Manager, Emma Kiely, who gave them a tour of the office on the 3rd floor of the Birmingham Civil Justice Centre and introduced them to Birmingham City University law students and long-standing volunteers.
The charity plays a vital role in helping litigants in person, offering guidance on court processes and practical support throughout their case. During their time as volunteers, Alex and Indiya gained valuable exposure to Family matters, which sparked their passion for Family and Children Law. Their visit brought back lots of fond memories from their time as volunteers.
It was lovely to meet all the BCU students on their journey to qualification and answer some of their questions about how to get into the industry and what being a Family Lawyer is really like.
