Sarah Memmi of GT Stewart Solicitors & Advocates represented P in an appeal against sentence. Our client was convicted of four failures to comply with notification requirements imposed under a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (now Sexual Harm Prevention Orders) and was originally sentence to 5 months imprisonment for each breach with three to run concurrently and the fourth to be consecutive, totalling 10 months’ imprisonment.
Following persuasive submissions, the appeal was allowed and the court imposed sentences of 18 weeks imprisonment for each breach, all four to run concurrently, substituted for the original sentence of the Magistrates Court.
If you require advice on a potential breach of an order you should obtain expert legal advice. We have lawyers able to advise on legal aid or privately.
