GT Stewart Solicitors are recruiting two full-time paralegals for their community care department.
Our team of lawyers and support staff fight to obtain social services support for a wide range of individuals including looked after children, victims of trafficking, refugees and asylum seekers, and people with disabilities. Our clients are often referred to us from charities and advocacy groups from across the UK.
We are now looking to expand our team and have vacancies for paralegals who are passionate about standing up for the rights of vulnerable and marginalised individuals, who enjoy working with a wide range of people, and are committed to holding public bodies to account.
We often act for individuals in judicial review and Court of Protection proceedings. We have a proven track record of fighting for the rights of vulnerable people, defending human rights and ensuring access to justice for those that need it most.
We work closely with our housing and mental health colleagues, and external immigration solicitors, to ensure positive outcomes for our clients.
Responsibilities will include; assisting solicitors with their caseloads of public law, community care and court of protection cases, attending meetings with clients and court hearings to take notes, preparing correspondence as well as documents for court proceedings such as court application forms and witness statements, reviewing client medical and care records, preparing applications for legal aid and assisting with the billing of files.
The ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate relevant experience/transferable skills; a commitment to legal aid work; strong organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure.
