Niresha is a solicitor specialising in community care, social welfare and Court of Protection matters. She acts for vulnerable clients with disabilities, assisting them obtain the appropriate support services to have their needs met. Niresha also pursues challenges against local authorities and public bodies who fail to meet clients’ needs.
Prior to joining GT Stewart in September 2020, Niresha practised as a family solicitor, assisting clients with marital breakdowns and divorce proceedings, as well as child arrangements.
Niresha has a passion for securing human rights and social justice. She has interned at Amnesty International’s headquarters based in London as an Individuals at Risk intern, where she conducted legal research and campaigned to global government bodies to reform certain legislation, assisting on many high profile cases. Niresha is also interested in equality and women’s rights, and undertook an internship at the Women’s Legal Centre in Cape Town, South Africa, where she worked closely with attorneys who challenged police force and perpetrators alike, guilty of sexual violence and abuse against women.
Niresha is a member of Young Legal Aid Lawyers and practises both legally aided and privately funded cases.
Niresha is part of the Law Society Women’s Lawyers Division Committee which focuses on promoting inclusion and gender equality within the legal profession.
