We are a Legal 500 and Chambers UK recommended firm with offices nationwide. We are currently seeking a paralegal to join our Actions Against the Police department in our Central London office.
Our Actions Against the Police department specialises in representing people in civil claims against the police, prisoners assaulted by staff, prisoners who have been detained unlawfully, claims against the UK Border Agency for unlawful immigration detention and / or searches at airports. We offer expert advice to those arrested for “public order” offences at protests. We represent families of people who have died in custody, or following police contact. We also advise on judicial review challenges against a range of public bodies including the police, Crown Prosecution Service and Independent Office for Police Conduct.
The successful applicant will have a passion for publicly funded work. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to the solicitors in the department, including attending clients, drafting documents, and other general case preparation. The successful applicant will be able to work independently and manage their own caseload. An experience of civil litigation and the police complaints procedure is desirable, but not essential.
