Rebecca joined GT Stewart Solicitors in July 2015. She advises and represents individuals seeking to challenge public body decisions. She is experienced in bringing judicial review proceedings and complaints regarding social care support for children in need and disabled adults and decisions made by government departments.
Rebecca frequently receives referrals from advocates, support and campaign organisations and charities to challenge public body decisions and policies which affect asylum seekers, refugees, unaccompanied children, care leavers, disabled adults, adults and children with mental health difficulties and families with no recourse to public funds.
Rebecca acts in Court of Protection cases where there are disputes regarding mental capacity, ‘best interests’ and challenges to standard and urgent authorisations under Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS). Rebecca acts for both relatives and protected parties who are referred to her by advocacy groups and the Official Solicitor.
Rebecca also represents claimants in Human Rights claims who have been incorrectly diagnosed with Fabricated or Induced Illness which has led to childcare proceedings.
Rebecca has a special interest in mental health law and she represented individuals who were detained under the Mental Health Act before the First Tier Tribunal (mental health) for 12 years.

Rebecca belongs to a number of amateur theatre groups in London and enjoys treading the boards in her spare time.
“I’ve worked with GT Stewart since 2014 in relation to matters involving my brother. Over that time, I’ve dealt mainly with Rebecca Hill and, more recently, Tahmina Islam. Having that continuity has been invaluable. They know my brother, they know our family and they understand the history of the case, which means we haven’t had to start from scratch every few years. I’ve always found them professional, passionate and easy to deal with. When I’ve needed advice or had concerns, they’ve been available and have taken the time to understand what matters to us. Acting as my brother’s litigation friend comes with a huge responsibility and I have always felt that he has been well represented. The fact that I’ve continued to return to GT Stewart over the last 12 years probably says more than anything else I could write. I trust them to do right by my brother.”
