Notable cases:

R v RC (Manchester Youth Court) – client was a vulnerable young person going through the care system. He was arrested for criminal damage after smashing a plant pot. Proceedings were discontinued after Kevin made successful representations to the CPS based on their own guidelines on the prosecution of ‘looked after’ children; this despite the fact the client admitted the offence during his police interview.

R v JW (Wood Green Crown Court) – client was charged with violent disorder having been alleged to have been involved in the London Riots in 2011. He suffered extensive mental health problems and was handcuffed to a lamp post by police during the evening of the riots having been found drinking a pint inside a closed pub in Tottenham.
Police produced CCTV of an entirely different male; the client was unanimously acquitted by the jury after only 30 minutes of deliberation and successful action against the police followed.

R v TB (Central Criminal Court) – client was charged with the murder of an elderly female inside her home.
The client was a Senior Crown Prosecutor based in the homicide department. He suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and was held on remand at a secure unit for the duration of the proceedings.
The matter attracted both national and international press attention due to the brutal nature of the attack and the circumstances of the client’s employment.

Kevin began working at GT Stewart in May 2015. He is a paralegal based at our Hackney office.

Other interests:

Kevin represents clients for a wide range of allegations; he is particularly interested in assisting young people and those suffering with mental health problems.
