I qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and as a duty solicitor in 2006. I have been a member of the GTS AAP team since 2012. Prior to that I worked as a criminal defence lawyer and I continue to act as legal advisor at the police station and advocate at the magistrates court, in addition to working in the AAP team.
I have developed a broad range of cases within my AAP caseload, with a particular interest in inquest proceedings and actions arising from deaths in custody and / or in circumstances involving the state. I also take a keen interest in pursuing disability discrimination cases against police forces, where our clients challenge the entire modus operandi of police forces when dealing with persons with disabilities.
I featured as “lawyer in the news” in the Law Society Gazette in January 2015 following a religious discrimination case brought against HMP Belmarsh on behalf of one of GT Stewart’s own solicitors.
Duncan is a member of the Police Action Lawyers Group and is recommended in the Legal 500 Directory.
