Amy is an experienced mental health solicitor and regularly represents clients before the First-tier Tribunal to challenge their detention under the Mental Health Act 1983. Amy also advises clients who have been unlawfully detained in hospitals or other care settings. Amy advises clients in relation to aftercare matters on leaving hospital and can also attend Care Programme Approach meetings or Hospital Managers hearings with clients.
Amy also specialises in representing clients in proceedings before the Court of Protection. Amy is able to provide advice in relation to assessment of capacity or best interest decision making and can advise clients on challenging a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) Authorisation.
Amy is a committee member of the Mental Health Lawyers Association, volunteers for the Law Society Human Rights International Action Team and is a member of Young Legal Aid Lawyers.
